The owners of this traditional brick colonial wanted a bright addition full of natural light.  A new primary suite sits above a light-filled kitchen and great room with a sweeping bank of south and west-facing floor-to-ceiling windows.  Simplified ceiling features provide texture to the open space, while distinguishing the kitchen from the adjacent family room.  A new screened porch connects the kitchen and family room to the rear yard.
